Atheism … or God?

“For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” (Romans 14:11)

“The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God.” (Psalm 53:1)

There is a man, Darwin Bedford by name, who declares himself to be an atheist, even the “Atheist Messiah”. And he’s really “pro-atheist” about it, no doubt about that. He’s got T-shirts for sale, a website, and has written articles — seemingly the whole “nine-yards”. But what distinguishes this man the most is not his atheism, but rather his hatred towards Christians and the name of Christ. You see, his website is replete with obscenities towards the name of Christ and Christians.

But I ask this question of all those who hate and/or dislike Christians and the name of Christ: If they really knew who Christ was, and who it was that gave them their very breath, would they really choose to hate him? This is the one that gave his very life on the cross, so that they might obtain eternal life. More than that, the Bible says that Jesus Christ created them, and all that there is.

It is sad, then, seeing people who deliberately choose to hate and malign the name of Christ such as this man is doing. And he does so at his own peril. Remember, as the Scriptures declare, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord! That certainly includes this man. Either a person can accept Christ as Lord now, and go to heaven, or — if they refuse to repent of their sins — they will be forced to acknowledge Christ as Lord later on. Their end will be hell, but they will still be forced to acknowledge Jesus as Lord! The choice is theirs — at least, for now, while they are still living. A day is coming when the choice will no longer be theirs! The Bible says “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”! (Hebrews 9:27) As soon as a person dies, it is too late to make a decision!

What on earth could have possessed this man so that he desires to deliberately attack the name of Christ as he is doing? I believe that he is a wounded man, confused about the real nature of Christ and exactly who he is. Perhaps he was wounded by a friend who was a Christian. Maybe he is rebelling against his Christian parents or relatives. Worse still (for him), I can only imagine that he is, in fact, resisting the call of the Holy Spirit on his own life! That would be, and I believe is, a tragic shame. So much good could be done by such a man and, indeed, by anyone who trusts in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Instead, the good has been turned to evil. My prayer for this man is that he will acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior – before it is too late!

For the Bible declares, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:11)

Have you trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life yet? Trust him now, before it is too late!
