Help for the Suffering

“In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet, and his disease became severe; yet even in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but sought help from physicians.” (2 Chronicles 16:12)

I’m not a great fan of predestination, because those who are great fans of it love to argue about how right they are. I’d prefer just to do the work, and get on with the task, and then, maybe, sometime down the road, when we all get to heaven, God might say to us, “You know, that was predestined that you should do this.” However, to argue about now, “inadfinitum” is pure foolishness. Get off that bandwagon and get doing some work — work that might be predestined, if you get on with it!

Now, having said that, I want to talk about something that is very dear to my heart. It is the suffering that many many people go through day in and day out. I want to know, do you think that their suffering is predestined? I’m not sure. But I wouldn’t want to be held guilty before God for not doing something about it. The reason I’m even writing this ITG is simply to address the issue, “How to get God on your side.” I’m in fact, writing it for those people who are suffering. I want to you know, I care about what you are going through. I think your best bet is to appeal to God, because he knows you, and he created you.

I see a lot of people out there and they don’t want to give God a try. They are miserable people. They are in dreadful pain, they don’t smile, and they always criticize. Oh, I hate that. I used to be just like that! Until God taught me how to praise him. I used to wake up in dreadful pain in the mornings — this went on for many many years — and God had to teach me how to praise him in the midst of it all — yes, in the midst of the suffering, in the midst of the pain, and in the midst of all of the rejection that I felt for so long! I can tell you for sure, I have seen miracles happen in my own life in the midst of shouting out into the air and praising him. I don’t care what anyone says! I’m going to praise him!

You know, I see a lot of critical people out there. They are so angry. And they are degenerating fast, in both body, mind, emotion, and soul. They are headed for hell, either physically, emotionally, or spiritually, in that big “hell hole” of a place that the godless are destined for. They are on their way there, too! But oh … I wish they would listen just for a moment. You are sending yourself to that place because of your misguided impressions of just who exactly God is. He is not like that “old ogre” you thought he was. He is not what some preachers even make him out to be. He loves you. He cares for you. He wants you to enjoy a prosperous, healthy, life. Now here’s how to do it (please listen).

The key is in getting God on your side. I think a lot of people suffer because there is something wrong about them, there is something “out of place” in their life. Do some serious soul searching! It may take you years! Cry out to God and ask him, “Lord, why is that I suffer so much! What is the key to unlocking this incredible agony!” You let him show you! Don’t fall prey to the lie that you can somehow do it better without God’s real help. You will die in your sin, and in your disease, if you refuse to come to God with your whole heart, and with everything that is in your soul.
