I’ll Pray For You

“I’ll pray for you,” I said to the man who had just been sick and was on anti-biotics. But then, just as soon as I had said it, the man said, “Not necessary.”

“Not necessary” is the cry of the unbeliever. He does not know that prayer is necessary.

“Apart from me, you can do nothing,” Jesus told his followers. (John 15:5)

Apart from Jesus, no man can do anything.

That means …

No eating,
No sleeping,
No resting,
No having fun,
No going out to dinner,
No reading the newspaper,
No watching a movie,
No fellowshipping,
No reading the Bible,
No praying even!

Was Jesus joking? Or was He telling the truth?

What does the Bible say about God?

– It says that He is the Creator of all things. (Gen. 1)

– It says that Jesus is the Creator of all things. (Col. 1)

– It says that in Him we live, and move, and have our being. (Acts 17:28)

– It says that if it were His intention and He withdrew His Spirit and breath, all mankind would perish together and man would return to the dust. (Job 34:14-15).

Without Him, then, we would perish. We would be nothing at all. We would sink!!! Only time will tell just how important our prayers were, and just what it was — or WHO it was, I should say — that was sustaining us, rather, even the WHOLE WORLD, while we were NOT praying!!!

So pray today. Pray always. And keep on praying, for He has given you the breath of life.
