Often we get so busy in our lives that we don’t leave time to pray. I know by personal experience that when I start my day without praying, my day does not go well! God wants us to depend on Him for everything. When we do He will bless us so much.
I hear so many people say how God blessed them with a car or God blessed them with a new house or God blessed them with this or that. That’s all so wonderful but what about the spiritual blessings? I never hear anyone say things like, “Wow, the Lord has blessed me so much this week with such a greater knowledge of Him, I feel so much closer to Him than ever before.”
Spiritual blessings, an enlightenment, a spiritual achievement — call it what you want but we need to pray and obey to receive it. Psalm 55:17 says, “Evening and morning and at noon I will pray and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.”
In Daniel 6:10 we read that Daniel knelt down on his knees three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks. Acts 10:9-10 tells us that Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. And 1 Thessalonians 5:16 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Make it a habit, find the time, add it to your schedule … whatever it takes!
That’s how we get to know Him. That’s how we strengthen our faith. That’s how we draw closer to Him.
We are to rejoice, pray, and give thanks.
This may be hard to do, or seem hard to do, but if we do it we will learn so much about God and His love for us.
