‘O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.’ (Romans 11:33-36)
Paul, in this scripture, gives us a brief word-picture of Our Awesome God. The wisdom and knowledge of God, as with everything about God, are infinite and eternal. There is nothing He does not know and, because of His infinite wisdom, His judgments are beyond our human understanding. Further, no matter how deeply we delve, we cannot comprehend them. There is nothing that we can give Him that He does not already have but whatever we do give, in the way of love, of praise, of obedience to His word, He will reward us, if not today then at some future time.
To me it is awesome to realize that God knows everything about me, including what I think and, to top it off, He knows that about everybody, including those who do not even think He is. How He can do so is beyond human comprehension but He does. Not only that, He is so all knowing that He knows everything about everybody past, present and future. We are free to make whatever choices we wish to make and we know that whatever choices we make will affect our future but we do not know what the future holds. God, however, is so all-knowing that He not only knows what choices we are going to make, before we make them, but He also knows exactly what the results will be, in the future, and He knows that about everybody! It is because of this that He knows those who are, or will be, His and those who are not, nor ever will be.
This is not pre-destination, this is pre-knowledge.
Such is God’s knowledge!
Praise the Lord!
