Praying in God’s Perfect Will

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” (Romans 8:26)

I believe without a doubt that it’s God’s will and desire to heal (spiritually, mentally, emotionally, AND physically). It’s all over the scriptures. It’s time to wake up and get out of carnal thinking. We need to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. Now, thank God His strength is made perfect in our weakness, He’s not asking us to do anything He isn’t empowering us to do. I know in my own personal walk with God that He is leading me into a deeper revelation and “walking out” of what it means to “walk in the Spirit”.

Part of this is praying in the Spirit-receiving mysteries above and beyond what we can dare ask or think according to the power that works within us. In Romans 8:26, the Scripture says: “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”

What an awesome gift God has given us to walk in the Spirit and pray the perfect will of God in our lives! Lately, the Lord has anointed me to get up early and pray in the Spirit for a specified amount of time. This is something that my flesh fought for a long time. I made a quality decision to let God have my prayer life and this is what has transpired. It’s amazing. I have seen a difference in my life, spiritual breakthroughs, truths coming to me, answers about issues I didn’t know how to deal with, perception and discernment and joy! It’s hard to describe in words.

Each person needs to walk out their walk with God and get His leading from Him. I’m not saying as a matter of legalism that everybody must do this or God won’t be pleased. It is more a matter of spending time with God to get His heart. For many years in my Christian walk I passed up this gift, used it infrequently, didn’t grasp the importance of it, but God in His mercy was faithful to keep me and to keep me growing. I think in these last days, these mysteries are going to be revealed to us and one of the ways they will is for us to pray in other tongues (in the Spirit) bypassing our minds and speaking forth the will of God.

Also, from a practical standpoint, we don’t need to “feel” anything to know we are praying the perfect will of God. Many times in my prayer time, these thoughts have come to me: “This is silly”. “This isn’t doing anything” “You’re just babbling” Of course, these are accusations and the source I know is the enemy. Also, God is not asking us to feel our faith. We worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This might help some people who may have been tempted as I have been to quit praying because they just didn’t feel close to God. I stand a lot on the scriptures that say if you draw near to God, He will draw near to you. And the Lord hears the prayers of the righteous. Those our promises that we can cash in any time at our heavenly bank!
