The Spirit of Prophecy

I was at a prayer meeting once, and the spirit of prophecy was flowing. This is what you would call a “charismatic prophetic prayer meeting,” but I don’t care what you call it. I care what the Lord does. And the Lord certainly did do something very special.

Now as we were praying in that room, the Lord spoke to me, and very clearly spoke to me – not audibly, but I knew exactly what He was saying. He was saying that a spiritual wind was blowing, and He showed me the exact direction that it was blowing in, too. I had no idea where I was in that room with respect to north, east, west and south. The room was one of many rooms in a church building and the many different rooms that were in that building were of different sizes and configurations and faced various directions. Thus north, east, south, and west, were not at all obvious to me.

But here is an amazing thing. As the spirit of prophecy moved upon me at that prayer meeting, the Lord clearly spoke to me and told me to take a single step, and then, precisely in a certain direction, yet one more step. That was it. That was the direction that the spiritual wind was blowing in. This is what the Lord was telling me.

Now I live in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, and I quickly went to my car to get a map of Ottawa that I knew was there in the glove compartment. I brought it back to that same room, and I aligned the same road on the map with the road that I could see outside the window of that room. Now I had my bearing and I could see what was north, east, south, and west! Next, I found a pencil, and, on the map, drew a straight line in the exact same direction the Lord had shown me, starting from that very building that I had been standing in. I drew that line on the map, and followed it, and it went right through the Canadian parliament buildings some ten miles or so away from that church building! That was the direction that the spiritual wind was blowing in – praise the Lord! It was obvious to me that the Lord was talking to me about how He was moving upon Canada as a nation!

Well, several years prior to that, I had been at work one day, and the presence of the Lord was so strong upon me that I had a very hard time doing my work. I would sit down to try and type something on the computer, and the spirit of rejoicing would come upon me with such force that I could hardly contain it. Yet I knew not what I was supposed to be rejoicing at! This lasted for two days. The presence of the Lord was so strong, that on the way back home after the second day, I “pleaded” with God in the car to show me what He was so happy about. At some point, the Lord revealed to me that it was about Stephen Harper, for an election was planned for the start of the following week (and by this time it was Thursday). No one knew whether or not Stephen Harper would definitively be elected, but, the Lord knew! The rejoicing continued to be very strong in me. When I got home shortly after that, instead of saying anything to my wife, I began dancing with her!

After this, I mentioned to my wife about the rejoicing, and how the Lord had filled me, and I reasoned that it must be an indication that Stephen Harper was hand-picked by the Lord to lead the nation out of her miseries (which were many prior to him taking office). Stephen Harper would therefore win the election the following week, which he did. I thought to myself, “That must be it! The Lord is telling me that Stephen Harper is God’s chosen man for leading the nation of Canada.” Now in case you thought that was strange, Stephen Harper is a committed Christian. Some years prior to this, a woman prophetess had been in town, by the name of Cindy Jacobs. At the very decline of everything that was right in Canada, during intense years of corruption led by Jean Chretien’s corrupt Liberal government, Cindy Jacobs prophesied two hard-to-believe things: First, that Canada would have a Christian prime minister. Second, that the Canadian dollar would surpass the American dollar in value. Several years later, both of her prophesies came to pass!

Canada is blessed today to have a Christian leader. It is a very difficult job for him to be in and he needs our prayers. Several attempts have been made to break up his government and evil lurks on every side, trying to cause havoc. I thank God that, for many years now, Stephen Harper has been the designated leader in Canada, to the great blessing of this nation. He has not always made fully righteous decisions. Due to the doctrine of political correctness (which George Bush, whom I believe is also a Christian also engaged in), he went and blessed a multi-million dollar Hindu Temple in Toronto, in their opening ceremonies. While Mr. Harper wanted to show acceptance to all individuals, I’m sure he overstepped the line from God’s perspective. Christian leaders must be willing to say, “No, I cannot bless the temple, because it would not please my God.” Instead, Mr. Harper went and blessed the temple. It was a great big gala event, plastered all over the front page of many newspapers. Notwithstanding, however, Mr. Harper is undoubtedly the man whom God chose to lead this nation. How much longer he can hold onto power in the face of his minority government is uncertain, but Christians everywhere should pray for him, that he makes the right decisions and leads wisely – as they should pray for all of their leaders, whether Christian or not.

God has a purpose for every nation. But according to what He has shown me, He certainly is doing something in Canada. I pray that God would raise up leaders in every nation who honor Him, and seek to do what is right. Please, pray for the leaders in your country, according to the word of the Lord. “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.” (1 Timothy 2:1-6)
