The Two Fish

“And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” (Luke 14:23)

Years ago when we lived in our small apartment, we had a small fish tank containing two goldfish. Now at one point along the way, I decided to add another fish. But only a few days later, I found one of the three fish dead in the water! Well, that did not dissuade me (yet). I bought yet another fish, and added it to the water again. Again, we had three. Then, I went to bed that night, and I had a dream.

In the dream, I saw TWO HUGE FISH FILLING THE TANK COMPLETELY. Then, I awoke. When I checked the tank, sure enough, one of the fish was dead again! Suddenly, I knew what the dream was all about! God was saying, “Only TWO FISH FIT INSIDE THAT LITTLE TANK! NO MORE!” I got the message. Those fish are specifically designed (by God) to ‘require’ a certain amount of space. If you try and crowd them in, it just doesn’t work. They end up killing one another … or something happens that ends up leaving one of the three (literally) “dead in the water”.

According to, it took up until 1804 to get the first 1 billion people on the earth. But from 1804 to the present, the population has now jumped to almost 7 billion! The rate of growth is that we’re now adding about 1 billion people in only 12 years! There is a definite limit to how many people can reasonably fit on this earth. God knew about that limit before He ever created the earth.

What is God’s approach to all of this? Mankind cannot go on living forever the way that he has been living, for the earth would eventually become overwhelmed. Many who don’t know the Lord believe that birth control is the answer. Others believe that mankind will need to look elsewhere to live!

God has a different idea.

Some “Godly intervention” must take place. At a certain point in history, God is going to “radically intervene” in the affairs of mankind with His glorious appearing. How will this affect the earth’s population? In some pretty dramatic ways. First, Christians will be temporarily removed from the earth for a “short” period of time, after which time they will return to rule and reign with Christ for 1000 years. These Christians will receive glorified bodies which will not reproduce on the earth, according to Matthew 22:30, which tells us that after the resurrection Christians “will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” This will have a sudden and dramatic “halting” effect on the population growth.

Second, 1 Thessalonians 5 indicates that at the time of the Lord’s appearing, the Lord will judge the wicked. Many will be destroyed. This will happen during the time of the “Great Tribulation” and afterwards at the judgment described in Matthew 25. This day is fast approaching. This will also have a sudden and dramatic “halting” effect on the population.

So, as you can see, there will be an intervention by the Lord, and that intervention will be absolutely dramatic, resulting in sudden and dramatic consequence for the rate of growth of our population on the earth.

Where will you be on the day the Lord comes back? And what will be your standing before God, your Creator? Now is the day of salvation. Now is the day to “make it right” before the Lord.

Get ready, for the Lord is coming!

“BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.” (Revelation 1:7)

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.” (Revelation 22:12)

“He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly ” Amen Come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)

Jesus said, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? For what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:34-38)
