Satan is waiting to take advantage of your situation. Maybe it’s a job situation that has gone wrong — or really, any type of situation. Maybe it’s something from the past that has been nagging you. It’s time to bury the past, because it does not exist. It’s either a good memory, or a bad one in your mind. Even if it is a bad memory, God can heal it, and bring you into wholeness through that situation. Start to intercede (pray) for the ones who hurt you. Start to act in faith, doing good works, and do not let anything hinder you! God’s got a plan for your life and if you are willing, He will bring you into it. Look to Christ. He is the Author and Perfecter of faith! (Hebrews 12:2)
When my body was stressed out because of electrolyte imbalance and dehydration, it was time to restore the water and electrolytes. I did that by consuming four bowls of salty chicken soup. It’s one of the best investments I have ever made! It saved my life! (probably literally!) The fear and doubt generated by that, however, caused some problems. A door was open to Satan to move in. A very minor bout with dizziness subsequent to that, about a week later, due to exhaustion, was all that was needed to “seal my fate” into believing that I had a problem. I actually had no physical problem — except that I was exhausted and had previously let my electrolytes get out of balance. These were temporary problems — potentially serious, but easily fixed. But my lack of understanding was an open door. In Hosea, we read, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6) Knowledge is important. That’s why going to visit the doctor helped me a lot. It gave me the knowledge necessary to know that my body was normal. There was no reason for ongoing concern. This knowledge was what was needed in order to help restore my faith and confidence, even after Satan began to move in.
What had happened was that subsequent to these two episodes, caused by a temporary metabolic imbalance and exhaustion, a spirit began to impress itself upon me. So, while going for walks, or in working at my desk, or even while standing and talking with someone, a sudden burst of dizziness would come upon me, and it was fearful, because of the previous two episodes (especially the first). So fear was working on me to produce death. This is what the dream was all about. The Lord showed me a big snake moving in for the kill. By this, He was showing me that there was an immediate spiritual battle at hand. I didn’t discern it, and was treating it as a physical problem. The Lord was saying it was spiritual. It took the dream to wake me out of my slumber, so I could recognize it. Otherwise, I would have treated the ongoing problem of dizziness with physical weapons. Instead, I need to recognize the problem for what it was — spiritual — and use spiritual weapons to gain the victory.
This problem is actually a very serious problem. I fear that the majority of spiritually-related problems are not properly discerned. Many people may be taking medications for problems that are caused by spiritual problems. Many people have “undetectable” illnesses. Do you? If the blood work does not show it, it may be that a spirit is directly causing the sickness. Spirits may also indirectly affect you, for example, through fear and anxiety, so that a disease results. You may be able to measure and quantify that disease through scientific analysis (lab work). Still, it may be spiritual in its origins. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, whom I mentioned in the first article, believed that something like 80% of all illnesses had spiritual roots. From what I recall reading by Christopher Catherwood (his grandson), that was actually the reason he gave for moving from being the assistant physician to the Queen of England to becoming a preacher — because he could more effectively treat people’s illnesses that way! (It was probably one reason among a list of them, but I remember reading something like that.)
When Satan gained his foothold in me — I was beginning to experience episodes of dizziness — then the more that happened, the more I believed something was wrong. So Satan was working on my faith — and my faith that my body was in good health was diminishing and my faith that something was wrong was increasing. So that’s the perfect scenario for Satan to come and trip you up — it does not matter what issue it is. I needed to get the blood work done and know there was no problem. There was no problem (to my surprise). This provided a turn-around, so that when I was again visited by a spirit, and I began to feel dizzy after that, I said to the spirit, “Leave now in Jesus’s name!” This “spirit of dizziness” produced very real effects. Basically, a powerful spirit would present itself before me. I would feel dizzy to the point of not being able to either walk or work or talk any longer. On several occasions, I felt like I was going to pass out again — and it was terrifically scary, but it was induced purely by a spirit. When I understood it, and stood up to the spirit, and said, “I command you to go in Jesus name!” the spirit left.
When you understand it’s a spirit, then you notice things differently. You can enter into discernment, then. We are not successful, often, in the things that we do, because we fail to rightly discern. After coming back from the doctor (see earlier articles in this same series starting at http://fcet.biblemessages.com/when-satan-attacks/), and then putting the pieces together, I finally realized it was a spirit because of what the Lord had shown me in the dream. So I was now waiting with eager expectation for the dizziness to happen again! Would it even happen again? Satan does not like to give up a fight. If he has gained any access at all, he will take it, if he can. And, once again, you need to understand that he may not give up easily. Spirits may revisit you even after you have gained the victory, so you need to stand your ground. Those who teach on spiritual warfare and know what they are talking about understand that spirits that have gained any access at all will revisit again and again in order to try and regain their authority. They do not like to lose and are sore losers, to say the least!
Sure enough, several days later, my sense of spiritual discernment was heightened (because of the Lord’s word to me). All of a sudden the presence was there — the dizziness, that is. As previously mentioned, it was like turning on a light switch. This time, I tangibly discerned the difference in the air. I rebuked it and it left. I had to do this on several other occasions, including the time with the pastor — in which I was even more strongly opposed.
Spiritual powers (demons) can produce more than just anxiety or fear. They can produce actual symptoms of sickness and it must be discerned. Through discernment, I was able to stand up and fight using spiritual weapons. If you are a follower of Jesus, so can you. In Jesus’ name, command the spirit to go! Press in and persist!
“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:1-4)
